RS-232/422/485 converter

The MTB–485 converts any Octagon serial port to RS–422 or 485. With two twisted pair, the card can be located up to 4,000 ft. from the host. You can also parallel up to 32 units on an RS–485 multidrop network.

One remote may talk to the host at a time. No software is required to turn the transmitter on and off, because the MTB–485 operation is automatic. You simply write to the port as you would to any RS–232C port. See the
